Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act

The health insurance portability and accountability act (known as HIPAA )was created by the federal government with ONE OF THE purposes BEING to protect the privacy of Patience and to make sure their information is secured and safe guarded. Your medical records are confidential to you and no one is allowed to see them unless you have given your written consent.
A HIPAA release form must be signed and provided to the healthcare provider before any protected health information is disclosed for any purposes other than certain exceptions as set out in the act.
For a third-party to access your health care records even your prescription medication that third-party must have a signed release by you before the healthcare provider will release any information. This request to a third-party must be in a document by itself and not contained in any other document.
